This is the first Pixies song I ever heard, and I fell in love with them pretty much right at that moment. It’s one of those songs that I always feel like playing but never feel like I’m doing justice to.
The 2010 recording has probably too much theremin on it, but as a reasonably straightforward take on how the song lives in my head it’s not bad.
The recordings from 2004 were off-the-cuff recitals during a band practice session; I sing like an idiot on both of them but particularly on the banjo one. On presumes we had been drinking, or something. Cringeworthy.
